Statement
Museum of my Life is based around Tracey King's personal response to the conflicting emotions evoked by the return to her hometown of Nottingham. Comfortable memories contrast with the discomforting sensations of not feeling "at home" anywhere and that "something is missing".
Inspired by the lace material of Nottingham's heritage and the physical history of the Museum of Nottingham Life, she has created a surreal sculptural setting which references fragmentary and often distorted glimpses of the past. Yet, the perspective of the work is the present, with its unsettling emotional narrative.
